Spark Plug Cleaner
???
???

Back in the day when we would reuse rather than throw away mechanics would often clean and re-gap spark plugs then reinstall the same spark plugs in our cars. Now we just replace them because it doesn't make sense to put used plugs back in. Spark plugs last much, much longer than they used to and they can be hard to get in and out of modern cars so it's better to chuck them and go new instead of taking a chance that there might be a problem somewhere down the road. The little machine in the photo was a small bench top model that cleaned spark plugs using an abrasive. The spark plug, not a finger, went in the hole. Push the button and voila, you had a clean and pretty spark plug ready to go back to work. It was important to remember to put the spark plug in the hole before you pushed the button or you'd get a spray of abrasive billowing out of the hole. Every grease monkey pushed that button first at least once. Thank you WeeBGB and Robin for playing What's it?!!

The glasses in the lower photo are as nice a set of Swanky Swigs as you'll every see. These never saw a dishwasher and we're used only on special holidays by an elderly lady to serve fresh squeezed Florida orange juice to her grandchildren when they visited her in central Florida. Each child would be seated at the table with their hands folded neatly. A Swanky Swig, filled just so, would be placed on a carefully ironed hand crocheted doily just three inches in front of their hands. At a signal from Grandma the children would carefully and politely sip their juice enjoying and savoring each and every drop. The ceremony at first seemed silly to seventies era children used to guzzling juice or whatever from the carton while standing in front of an open refrigerator. But, as time went on, it built a memory each cherishes today and they see the effort taken by their grandmother to make a mundane daily occurrence like drinking a glass of juice special as a metaphor for her love and caring. After each use the Swanky Swigs were carefully washed by hand using a soft cloth and mild soap then placed in a special shadow box on her wall until needed again. No one but this fine lady's grandchildren every drank from these little beauties and no one but the lady herself ever washed them. They are perfect!

So, what do you think? More hooey or am I giving you the real info this time? Or, maybe a little of both?

I'm going to include this little paragraph at the end of each one of these What's It? Hubs. If you've seen it before don't bother to read it but if you haven't read through so you know the rules, such as they are, and can play along too. Part of the fun in this game is there is often nothing stranger than the truth. If this is the first What's It Hub you've read and would like more information about what these are about go to the first What' s it? Hub on my Hubpage, that's the one without a number, and then work forward. All will be revealed. It's just a fun little game to pass the time for those of us with an interest in antiques, old collectibles and curiosities. I won't take the time to explain everything here but suffice to say my descriptions aren't always the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Well, they definitely look like drinking glasses. Not sure about the grandma story, but I'm going out on a limb and say that Brian is telling the truth this time.
